Last month, DSSOs around the country celebrated the holidays with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Here are just a few of those festive celebrations.
San Diego DSSO hosted its 2014 Making Holidays Easier for Youth party with the Boys & Girls Club of Linda Vista, inviting local children and their families to share in the warmth of the holidays. The event included a tasty cupcake eating contest and a Best Dressed Snowman competition, in which each child used arts and crafts supplies to create their own unique Frosty the Snowman.
“The kids had a lot of fun and were happy it came together. We look forward to our next event,” said Jennifer Walker, Credit Analyst at the San Diego DSSO.
The holiday party concluded with gifts from the Club, and a delicious buffet consisting of chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken with rice, and holiday cookies.
The event was a big hit with the attending children, parents, and volunteers. Everyone had a spectacular time enjoying the warm festivities with friends and family. It was truly a special way to celebrate the holidays and bring smiles to the young faces of Southern California.
Dallas DSSO celebrated the holidays with their annual Making Holidays Easier for Youth event. TFS invited 70 families from the Richardson Boys & Girls Club to this year’s gala. The evening began with a special guest appearance by Mr. & Mrs. Claus. Following Santa’s appearance, the children used their creative talents to make personalized glass ornaments for parents to enjoy through the new year.
The holiday magic was made possible by the TFS volunteers from the Dallas DSSO, who found time in their busy schedules to wrap gifts and help create a very special holiday for the Boys & Girls Club kids.
Throughout the special event, attendees were treated to first-class catering provided by Chiloso’s Mexican Bistro. A gift giving ceremony, provided by the Dallas DSSO, concluded the evening.
The Baton Rouge DSSO treated high school seniors from the Greater Baton Rouge Boys & Girls Club to a festive pre-holiday breakfast at Bellaire High School, and surprised the teens with Best Buy gift cards to brighten their day.
Nashville DSSO and the Franklin Boys & Girls Club delivered holiday cheer to 70 local children at their Making Holidays Easier for Youth party. DSSO staff members participated in the event by serving pizza, cookies, fruit, and refreshments to the children.
Excitement filled the air as the guest of honor, Santa Claus, entered the room and made his way through the crowd of children, many of whom were unable to visit Santa at their local malls. The holiday event concluded with Santa reading Christmas stories and taking photos with the children. Parents and DSSO staff members were delighted to see the young faces light up as they enjoyed a day of gifts, candy canes, and Santa Claus.
