Toyota Financial Services (TFS) aims to provide extraordinary experiences for underserved youth with the goal of “Making Life Easier.” In today’s society youth development during non-school hours, is needed more than ever. During this time it is vital adolescents learn 21st century leadership skills that support their academic, career and life goals. That is why we have developed a robust platform of giving that supports organizations that are working to build the next generation of leaders.
In 2014, in support of this initiative, Toyota became a founding partner of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) Great Futures movement and the Signature sponsor of their Youth of the Year (YOY) program. As the Signature sponsor of the Youth of the Year program Toyota is committed to collaborating, investing and elevating with BGCA to advance their youth leadership platform to be industry-leading. BGCA’s legacy leadership recognition program will expose 1.2 million Club youth to life-changing new skills and celebrate their extraordinary achievements. 2015 begins the expansion of Youth of the Year as an intentional developmental program and will grow from engaging 14,000 teens, ages 14-18, to more than120,000 youth annually, ages 7-18, by 2019.
And we’re not just writing a check. We’re getting involved. All 39 TFS Offices, including Puerto Rico, are partnered with local Boys and Girls Clubs across the country. Over 400 TFS team members serve as mentors to the teens that participate in BGCA’s youth development programs and have logged over 23,400 volunteer hours. Some of the activities include experiential field trips, college tours, career workshops financial education workshops and youth of the year mentorships.
