Crown Toyota Scion Promotes Dream Car Art Contest to Local Youth

IMG_0376To encourage participation in the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, John Elway’s Crown Toyota Scion in Ontario, California, hosted an afternoon family art activity on Saturday, November 16, 2013. A dozen kids created and submitted artwork while their parents shopped for cars or had their current vehicles serviced. Organized by Shelley Gagnet, the dealership’s Community Manager, and TFS Area Sales Manager Kathy Pieper, three other Toyota associates — Mark Smith, Arcelia Espinosa, and Lori Esparza — helped plan and spearhead the fun.

Crown Ne-Yo 600pxAfter the event, over 400 art kits were distributed by the dealership to area nonprofit organizations, such as Together We Rise and KidsArt, to engage local youth. In addition, over 500 kids received information about the contest during the Ne-Yo Christmas Party at the Challengers Boys & Girls Club in Los Angeles. They also received dinner and gifts from the event’s host Ne-Yo, the Grammy Award-winning American R&B recording artist, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actor.

To further promote the contest and encourage local participation, Crown Toyota Scion has offered to award a collectible football, signed by dealership owner/namesake and All-American quarterback John Elway, to the one of four area schools that enters the highest number of artwork submissions from students this year.

“The contest is more than just an opportunity for kids to draw their dream cars; it also provides the opportunity for adults to be inspired by the imagination of children,” said Pieper. “Shelley and Paxton Gagnet share so much with others, through the dealership AND on their own.” Gagnet added, “We love being involved in our community, especially when it involves kids.”
