U.S. Youth Wins World Bronze Award in Japan for 12th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest

“The Dragon Dream Car” by Audrey Tianyu Zhang

Audrey Tianyu Zhang became the first U.S. recipient of a Bronze Award for the 12th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest during the World Awards Ceremony in Japan on August 29, 2018. “The Dragon Dream Car”– the artwork created by 14-year-old Zhang from Levittown, New York — was one of more than 650,000 entries submitted by more than 76 countries to this year’s global contest. Out of 30 World Winners, she is the only one representing the United States this year.

Earlier this year, Audrey’s artwork “The Dragon Dream Car” was chosen as the U.S. Gold Award Winner for her age category (12-15 years). Audrey has been drawing since age 2, and at age 11, won another national contest, which changed her life and sealed her decision to pursue art as a career. She currently attends 92nd Street Y Gilda and Henry Block School of the Arts, New York. “If you don’t draw, then you can’t show anyone else what your ideas look like,” she said.
