The Boys & Girls Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley (in Shelton, Connecticut) recently awarded Toyota Financial Services (TFS) with its 2014 Champion of Youth honor. TFS, a proud supporter and sponsor of the Boys & Girls of America, was recognized as a distinguished supporter of the club through significant financial support and associate volunteering. Accepting the award were Matt Morton and Rich Carroll of the New Haven DSSO.
During his acceptance speech, Carroll highlighted TFS’ involvement in the community.
“Since 2007, TFS has contributed over $10.5 million to Boys & Girls Clubs of America,” Carroll said at the podium. “In 2013, more than 1,000 associates volunteered more than 30,000 hours in the community. And in this past year, TFS employees have taken part in 5,000 volunteer activities, volunteering more than 13,000 hours.”
The New Haven DSSO was also recognized for its role in bringing scholarship opportunities to Club members, a summer internship program, the d2D college readiness program, backpacks, art supplies, and more.
The event consisted of a cocktail hour, an annual meeting of the corporation, and concluded with the Service to Youth awards program, during which the Club and attendees showed their appreciation for the more than $20,000 that has been distributed by the New Haven DSSO to support Club programs and activities.
