Toyota Announces $1M Toyota Impact Grant at First Community Exchange Event in Plano

In January, TFS Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity & Inclusion came together with TMNA Social Innovation to host the first Community Exchange event in Plano, Texas. This half-day event brought together more than 250 change makers from165 local organizations connecting with 80 Toyota Team Members.

From TFS, Mike Groff, Julia Wada, and Karen Ideno addressed the attendees and explained how Toyota looks to partner with organizations to improve our shared communities.

At the event, we proudly announced the Toyota Impact Grant. This $1 million opportunity jointly funded and administered by TMNA and TFS in collaboration with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas will focus on providing mobility (social and physical) solutions for the North Texas community.

We already received some great coverage of this new grant program:

Attendees were delighted with the event. Here are a few of the comments we’ve received:

“Thank you for what you are doing in the community to help build a better place for all of its citizens and for bringing us together today.”

“A well-organized event manifested Toyota’s culture of openness to accept ideas from the stakeholders, its collaboration and coordination among the different departments and the willingness to break bread (fellowship) with the participants.”

“… you approach your work and our community with such humility … servant leadership is definitely a big part of the Toyota DNA.”

Our teams are excited about the level of excitement that this event has generated, and we look forward to continuing this exchange of ideas in the community.
