The Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs joined forces with presenting sponsor Toyota and participating sponsor NBC4 to create this year’s Teen Summit event at UCLA on October 15. Nearly 1,000 teens between the ages of 14 and 18, from all 25 Los Angeles County Boys & Girls Clubs spent the day transforming their Minds, Bodies and Souls. The goal of the day was to allow teens to expand their horizons, learn about the healthiest ways to be themselves, break down personal barriers, and learn professional development tools.
TFS Group Vice President Al Smith kicked off the event at the opening ceremony and led everyone in a “crowd wave!” Al was followed by Motivational Speaker and Author Ramsey Jay, Jr., who inspired the teens with his keynote presentation, entitled “Empowering Dreamers to Become Achievers.” Professionals from top corporations, including TFS Vice President Kim Cerda, participated on the “Mind” panel breakout session, where youth learned about the importance of education and career development. Toyota also had a cool activation, where participants could play a game of RAV4 Skee-Ball to win a Bluetooth speaker!
The day ended with a special performance by the popular Latin Pop band and current Macy’s iHeartRadio ‘Rising Star’ winner, Los 5.
