2017 Financial Empowerment Month

Toyota’s Making Life Easier (MLE) Financial Empowerment program is already off to a great start in 2017 with a series of events hosted across the country in honor of National Financial Literacy Month.

The month of financial empowerment events kicked off with a Youth Financial Literacy Workshop on April 1 to benefit members of the Girl Scouts of America and Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Baltimore.

A few days later, on April 3, 2017, TFS team members gave a special guided tour of the Treasury Department in Torrance for the Boys & Girls Club of Carson.

In Los Angeles, on April 12, TFS team members worked directly with members of the local Girls Scouts troop to complete a money skills module. Participants not only left with a clear plan for how they can drive their own financial future, but also a small Toyota gift bag.

Toyota’s Financial Empowerment initiatives provide the ideal opportunity for Toyota to continue its support of Junior Achievement (JA), a non-profit that is dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people through financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship education.

JA helps coordinate financial education events through turnkey, one-day workshops, such as JA In a Day and JA Finance Park. These workshops bring volunteers from local businesses and students together through fun and engaging activities centered around JA-developed curriculums.

A slideshow of one such workshop hosted by several TFS team members at Buford Elementary in Lennox, California, demonstrates the interactive nature of JA In a Day and the enthusiasm it inspires.

In Plano, Texas, Toyota’s Team IMPACT! had a great turn-out at the JA Finance Park they organized for Webb Middle School students at Paul Quinn College in Dallas on April 11th, 2017. At this event, 34 Toyota volunteers made a group presentation and then worked with the students directly to help them form and execute a budget. The event was well received by students and volunteers alike.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make MLE Financial Empowerment Month a success!
